Day Three!

Today we were up bright and early and were overwhelmed by the sunshine and beauty of Greensboro, NC!

We stopped for a quick breakfast and then headed over to Guilford College! Some of us hadn’t been there in over seven years and we were overcome by emotion and confusion. The students look the same! Why isn’t there any parking!? Why do these people get such good food in the cafeteria?! What is that thing in the center of the campus?!?

After getting over our initial shock and nostalgia, we set up shop outside the campus co-op and started screen printing glow-in-the-dark T-Shirts with Erin Burns’ amazing logo on them. Many of the wonderful students, teachers and administrators who had been so supportive over email stopped by to meet us in person and probably to see if we were actually serious about the whole thing. We assured them we were and made many new friends.

We began shooting in front of Binford Hall, then around the campus, by the lake and then we may or may not have gotten lost in the Woods.

We were lucky enough to be able to break into WQFS and discuss the radio station with our group of alumni, three of whom had been DJs with their own shows and one of whom had been Station Manager.

We also got to meet Ty Buckner and Suzanne Sullivan in person and give them almost as many hugs as they deserve. We would never have been able to organize or finish this project without their immense help, all while running the Bryan Series and the Communications and Marketing Department!

Tonight we had our Filmmaker Get-Together in downtown Greensboro, and we were so lucky to be joined by fellow alumni and friends, fellow alum and filmmaker Kevin Smith, Ty Buckner, Suzanne Sullivan, Dan Nonte, who wrote the amazing Beacon article, and more.

Tonight we are going to sleep with dreams of freshman year in our heads and a growing excitement for tomorrow’s Big Event. The day is almost here!
