Help Us Make This Movie!

Thanks to people like you, we were able to make it all the way from Gettysburg to Greensboro. We were able to film National Parks and baseball and Civil War reenactments. We were able to feed our crew a steady diet of Texas Tavern hamburgers and CookOut milkshakes. And we were able to interview Ken Burns. That’s all thanks to you.

In order to put the footage together, in order to actually make a movie, we’re fundraising again!

This time we are asking for your help in post-production, which is a very fancy way to say “everything that happens after you put away the cameras.” What are we really asking for? Enough money to eat and pay our student loans while we edit. Enough money to put gas in our cars to get us to the office and back. Enough money to buy the rights to use “Ashokan Farewell” in the movie.  Enough money to pay for Christian Louboutins for the Premiere. That last one was a joke, but the rest are real.

How can you help?

And we have the ever popular PayPal button, which you can press right here:

Thanks to you, we’re making a movie. We can’t do it without you – and we wouldn’t want to anyway.

Our Roaring/Temperate Celebration

Our journey to Greensboro will include a stop at a speakeasy where we will be learning about both the 18th and 21st Amendments! This is just one of the many stops we have on our Ken Burns-themed itinerary!

If we reach our fundraising goal, we are planning to host a Friends of The Film-Only “Temperance Hour,” followed by a “Moonshine Reception,” (complete with secret knock and handshake) as a Thank You to all of our contributors and all those who have worked so hard to make this film happen.

We would like to invite you all to join us in celebration of Prohibition and “Prohibition: A Film by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick.”

Thank You, Contributors!

We are still in the thick of fundraising and would like to take a moment to thank all of those who have contributed and we’d also like to share a few of the comments we’ve received on IndieGoGo.com:

“This is a FABULOUSLY creative project! Kudos to all of you for doing this. I can’t wait to see how your adventure turns out on the big screen.”

“Good luck with your adventure – I am donating as the parent of a freshman living in Binford who has made some amazing friends. I’m proud of her and proud that you all are making your dreams happen!”

Let’s keep it up! Thanks to your contributions, we keep getting further down that road to Greensboro!

Make Him Real

According to PBS, “For over 25 years, filmmaker Ken Burns has been producing films that are unafraid of controversy and tragedy. Explore Burns’s work and learn more about the subjects of his remarkable films. History made them famous. Ken Burns makes them real.”

Well, PBS, you made Ken Burns famous, now we want to make him real.

First Contribution!

WE HAVE OUR FIRST CONTRIBUTION! Thank you so much to our first contributor! In your honor we would like to share this reminder of why Ken Burns is the greatest documentarian of our time. It’s from the 2008 Emmy Awards, and we count ourselves very lucky that Mr. Burns hasn’t taken his “Lifetime Achievement Award” as a cue to retire.
